PORTFOLIO OF WORK

WHO WE ARE
University of Vermont Grossman School of Business students helping Patagonia create more sustainable packaging for food and clothing distribution.

SYNOPSIS:
Patagonia is searching for a packaging solution that better aligns with their stance of "being in the business to save our home planet." Of the 78 million metric tons of plastic produced each year, only 14% are recycled. It mostly end up in landfills, and ultimately our oceans, directly harming our earth and noticeably misaligned with Patagonia's mission. For a solution to be viable, the packaging must do its basic job of protecting its contents, while mitigating the harm done to the environment in all lifecycle stages: from production to manufacturing, to hopefully being reused, biodegraded, or recycled in the end.

RECOMMENDATION:
Seaweed packaging lined with casein milk protein and a label that all biodegrades in at-home composting sites
